I love this HOLIDAY SEASON. I love being with my family. I love Christmas eve and I always love the conversations that come about because of our families Christmas Eve traditions. My mom always tells the best stories and always puts in so much effort it is impossible not to feel like Christ is in our home. How lucky am I to have such an awesome mom? The most influential part of her story was a quote by Charles Dickens in a story that was written only for his children on the birth and life of Jesus Christ. While Gordon B. Hinkley was on his mission in London a local news paper published bits and pieces of this story at a time and Hinkley eventually collected a full copy of the story. I will not write it all for it would take me more time than I am willing to give on Christmas to type it but I love how Dickens closes his story. He says,
"It is Christianity to love our neighbors as our self, and to do to all men as we would have them do to us. It is Christianity to be gentle, merciful, and forgiving, and to keep those qualities quiet in our own hearts, and never make boast of them, or of our prayers or of our love of God, but always show that we love Him by humbly trying to do right in everything."
How simple! Yet Dickens felt it necessary to bare this simple testimony in writing to the ones who were most important to him, his children. This was such an awesome quote to ponder this Christmas Eve and has made me reflect on what needs to be included in my New Year resolutions. The rest of Dickens story is so amazing let me know if you would like a copy. It is guaranteed to uplift and inspire you. Although I will never be a Dickens in writing hopefully I make the effort to show my children what true Chritianity is as he did.
Merry Christmas!

I want a copy!! I'm glad you had such a good Christmas!! Love you!!
Merry Christmas to you too!! It is so nice to know that you have a wonderful time. While reading about the quote you have up there. I was thinking about this myslef recently. I try to figure out how can I show that I love Him by "humbly" trying to do right in everything and become as perfect as He is. I am reading a book called "Toss the Guilt and catch the Joy" and I want to share some sentances that she said with you.
".. He know you have tons of problems and are doing the best you can. He is interested in your improvement and your progress. He does not condemn you."
"...Each of us can use the experiences of our life to learn to love. We can explore each opportunity to grow. But it is our choice whether we cut our growth and development short by reveling in the worldly success we've achieved, or whether we continue to humbly pursue growth in that importnat life lesson of love...."
I am keeping trying find all good words to encourage myself and if I can I would like a copy from you. Adam and I miss you guys a lot. It feels like we don't get to see you any more even we live in the same state.
Hope to see you guys soon!!
Love
Debbie
Great quote. Mom does always do something terrific...I have to say we are not quite that good about it at home (of course, we have very limited attention spans to deal with. Maybe in a few years we can have a little more spiritual and a little less yelling at everyone to sit down and be quiet and listen...)
