Faith of a Child

I was at the mall today with my fantastic friend Merry and her kiddo's and we had an awesome time. We shopped, ate, and played all day long. While we were looking for Allie's perfect adoption day dress Merry was so sweetly entertaining all my children. She was walking the boys in the stroller and said to Brooklyn, "Aren't you so lucky to have 2 brothers!" My sweet little girl replied, "No, Jesus wants me to have 2 brothers."

This melted my heart for 2 reasons. #1 because it reminds me how much she loves her brothers and #2 because it quieted any doubts that may be creeping in to my mind about Tanner not being legally ours someday, because after all Jesus does want Brooklyn to have 2 brothers.

Another quick Brooklyn story that has nothing to do with her Faith -

We were eating in the food court and Brooklyn looked up over her bench at the guy behind her and said, "Your skin is black." What a sweet man who laughed at the innocence of a child. I really appreciate him for that. I wasn't there when it happened, again she was with my friend Merry while I was getting my food. After Merry told me the story she said I didn't know what to say. My thought was this, "Yes his skin is black, everyone has different color skin isn't that cool, That is how Jesus made us?" (elementary Sunday school answer, right?) How do I turn that into a teaching lesson that Jesus loves everyone no matter what there skin color, whether they have tattoos and piercings all over, tall , short, skinny, chubby? You get the point. How do I teach them so they really understands? I know I am asking to solve a problem that has been around since the beginning of time. But I want to raise my children with no prejudices to appearances and to surround themselves with good people with no exceptions. How do I teach them this quality?

I think the elementary answer is the best one!! I love it when my girls come up with something spiritual just out of the blue - It's a little affirmation that I'm not doing too bad after all! Cookie is such a little squish!! I just LOVE her! And Yippee for Allie's blessing/sealing outfit!! I can't wait to see pictures of her in it. It will be a wonderful day!!
